The addition of radio remote controls allows conversion from a two-person operation to a single-person operation, since there is no need for that extra person providing hand signals at ground level. Also the operator, from floor level can, not only control forward, backward and other crane and hoist motions, but also the speed at which things happen.
The damage to plant & machinery is eliminated which is often caused due to confused signals between the cabin operator & the man handling the load on floor level.
Load positioning and damage control are improved too, because a radio remote control operator can better judge a crane load clearance. Placing the operator on the floor avoids the health hazards of high humidity, vapors, smoke, radiation, high voltage, etc. associated with cabin operation.
Radio remote control allows the operator to get the best possible line of sight, when loads are transported to several different pieces of equipment located at different levels, including a mezzanine.
